COLOR RUN
THE COLOR RUN
Last weekend I ran the Atlanta Color Run with some of the RUF girls. The Color Run is the happiest 5K on the planet...or so they claim. And really, it probably was.
You are supposed to wear white and each kilometer you get "painted" with a different color. So by the end of the race you are an explosion of color. The Atlanta Color Run benefits Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, which really is a wonderful children's hospital.
Here we are at the beginning of the race. Nice and Clean...
We're ready... |
Our goal was to get as colorful as possible so we were aiming for the high color lanes. Chelsea and I ran together. Chelsea was trying for a 5K personal record of 24 minutes or less, but after the first color zone, it became clear why this is an un-timed race- everyone stopped at each color zone. Literally. At each color we had to squeeze down into one lane of the road that had been blocked off to cars so it got pretty bottle-necked. We didn't set any records, but we still had lots of fun.
Each color zone had volunteers with buckets of colored powder that they threw on you. It was basically colored cornstarch. It tasted awful- like chalk, but it didn't hurt.
By the end of the race we looked something like this...
Everyone was given color packets to open and throw at the end of the race. We didn't realize that there was a countdown and everyone was supposed to throw there's together so we just had our own mini "color-throw"
